At Fitness First Philippines, we believe in nurturing healthy habits from an early age.
That’s why we’re excited to launch FITPASS Kids—a fitness program tailored specifically for children and teens, offering a fun, engaging, and supportive environment for ages 8 to 15. With two unique categories, FITPASS Kids Play for ages 8-11 and FITPASS Kids Active for ages 12-15, we ensure every age group gets the right mix of physical activity, learning, and fun.
What is FITPASS Kids?
FITPASS Kids is a holistic fitness program designed to promote physical health, mental well-being, and social development for children and teens. We understand that different age groups have different needs, so we’ve crafted two programs that cater specifically to each group:
FITPASS Kids Play (Ages 8-11): Designed for younger kids, this program focuses on playful, creative activities that enhance coordination, motor skills, and teamwork.
FITPASS Kids Active (Ages 12-15): Tailored for older kids and teens, this program introduces more advanced exercises, sports drills, and strength-building activities to keep them engaged and energized.

At the heart of the FITPASS Kids program is the development of Perceptual Motor Skills, which play a critical role in helping children and teens navigate their physical world with confidence and control. As children grow, developing strong Perceptual Motor Skills is essential for both athletic performance and everyday movement.
Included in Perceptual Motor Skills are Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS)—the building blocks of physical activity. FITPASS Kids focuses on two key categories of Fundamental Movement Skills: Stationary Movement Control and Locomotion. Both of these are integral to improving coordination, balance, and overall fitness, whether a child is playing a game or mastering a sport.
Fundamental Movement Skills in FITPASS Kids
1. Stationary Movement Control
Stationary movement control refers to a child’s ability to maintain balance and control while in a static position or performing controlled movements without significant displacement. These skills include activities such as balancing, bending, twisting, and stretching. In the FITPASS Kids Play and FITPASS Kids Active programs, stationary control exercises help children develop strong core stability, improve posture, and build body awareness.

Mastering stationary control lays the foundation for more complex movements and reduces the risk of injury. It also enhances a child's ability to focus on tasks that require fine motor skills, such as catching a ball or performing a dance move. In our classes, activities like stretches and simple balance challenges are incorporated to help build this critical skill.
2. Locomotion
Locomotion involves any movement that transports the body from one place to another, such as running, jumping, hopping, or skipping. FITPASS Kids emphasizes these movements through dynamic exercises like obstacle courses, athletic conditioning drills, and team sports challenges. Locomotion activities not only develop cardiovascular fitness but also improve coordination and spatial awareness.

Whether playing soccer, running a relay, or simply moving confidently in everyday life, locomotor skills are essential for long-term physical development.
